The Musical Days event “Prof. Nedyalka Simeonova”
bears the name of the distinguished Bulgarian violinist, who was born more than 100 years ago in Haskovo. The virtuoso musician left lasting traces in the Bulgarian and world music. Her extraordinary talent took her on stage when she was only 11. She perfected her art in Germany and the U.S., gave concerts in many countries. After 1946 she settled in Bulgaria and till the end of her life she was a professor of violin at the Bulgarian State Conservatory.
The beginning of the Musical Days was set in 1971 with the idea to affiliate the citizens of Haskovo with the world's musical heritage and culture. Within the annual music festival on the stage of Haskovo Theatre "Ivan Dimov," along with concert performances of our popular orchestras and their soloists, the organizers also hold the Competition for Young Violinists, established as a prestigious international event.
According to application forms for participation, the participants are divided into three or four age groups and judged by a jury, which consists of our outstanding music educators and musicians
With their gifted performances, the present young Bulgarian violinists reveal the beauty of musical art and present unforgettable moments to the audience of Haskovo. Guest performers for the Musical Days "Prof. Nedyalka Simeonova" have been prominent musicians such as world famous violinists Professor Angel Stankov and Prof. Joseph Radionov, Prof. Mincho Minchev, Vesko Eshkenazi and many others.
