The first edition of Haskovo Jazz Festival took place in 1997.
Since then, every year in late September, Haskovo has been alive with the magnificence of jazz music.
Over the years the Forum has established itself as one of the prestigious national jazz festivals, featuring over 1,300 renowned artists from around the world: England - Scott Stroman quintet, Jez Franks, Tori Freestone; Poland - Karol Szymanovski, Renata Banacka, Jaskulke 3yo, Jan Smoczynski Trio , the Czech Republic - Ondrej Kabrna, Petr Volny, Milan Svoboda Quartet, Martina Fisherova and Seven Days; France - Jonathan Bratoeff; Turkey - Pera Guzel Sanatlar, Doktor Melih Guzel; Denmark - Tonika saxophone quintet; USA - Chris Tofield blues band; Hungary - Tuzko Csaba, Kristof Bacso, Kornel Horvath Ethnosyntezis; Austria - Martin Reiter, Mondautos, Karlheinz Miklin Trio, Nouvelle Cuisine Big band, Robert Pawlik and others.
Prominent names like Kamelia Todorova, Milcho Leviev, Peter Salchev, Theodosyi Spasov, Yildiz Ibrahimova, Beloslava, Vasil Petrov, the band “White Green and Red”, Vicky Almazidu, Hristo Yotsov, Bulgara, Dimitar Rupchev, Hilda Kazasyan , the Plovdiv Big Band, OM Group, Edmond Demirdjian, Infinity, Swing Dixie Gabrovo, Raicho Ivanov, Lot Lorien and many others have presented their art on the stages of Haskovo Jazz.
The Jazz Festival has no commercial purpose; the entrance to all events is free. The main idea is to popularize jazz art and to present an opportunity for the young and talented performers. During accompanying events literary works, works of art, open lessons, workshops, lectures, films are presented.
