National Competition for Literature Debut "Southern Spring"

Each year the National competition for literature debut “Southern Spring” is the meeting venue

in Haskovo for young and talented poets, writers and literary critics and writers of film scripts. 
These literary celebrations have been acknowledged as especially cherished events, which provide opportunities for the young Bulgarian literary men and women to take their first steps. Young artists from Bulgaria gather in Haskovo to present their debut works. They exchange ideas, meet famous Bulgarian writers acquaint with the history and culture of the city.
Haskovo municipality awards the prize in the four official categories- the title "Laureate" with a bronze statue "Pegasus" and money prize. A special prize is awarded for lifetime achievement in literature and art in the name of the first Bulgarian publisher Alexander Paskalev.
During the National Competition for Literature Debut "Southern Spring" on open air book bazaar is organized where authoritative and established publishing houses in Bulgaria present their works.
